Service Dashboards

Project Overview

This project was executed from idea to implementation to create a functional dashboard for intended user groups. The project was inclusive of workshopping with users to define requirements, A/B testing the wireframe designs, and testing against users following the new design launch.

Project Timeline

Workshopping Requirements

Upon the intial project request, it was imperative to understand user requirements, needs, and desires from the dashboard. Using methods from the LUMA institute, I worked with my team to set up workshops for the two main persona groups. These workshops included LUMA methods to gather insites into the user requirements, as well as understand future wants from the dashboard. The goal of these workshop was to understand the users’ needs and organize them from highest to lowest priority.

Wireframing

After collecting all requirements from users, I created low fidelity wireframes to demonstrate how the dashboard may be laid out. These designs included widget blocking and formatting adjustments that would then be A/B tested against the persona group for final prototyping. These wireframes allowed the users to visualize their requirements within a dashboard.

A/B Testing

With the wireframes complete, the team and I presented thedesigns with their requirements laid out similar to how the dashboards may be displayed within the platform. We hosted a short meeting with all users to discuss the varying aspects within the designs, and how each widget’s functionality is intended to work. The users were able to provide their feedback with the two wireframes, and suggest alternative options to the design layout.

At this stage, the SME for the dashboard platform was also brought into conversations to ensure all changes and user needs could be satisfied within the new dashboard.

High Fidelity Prototyping

With the comments from A/B testing and feedback from the SME, I created the high fidelity protoypes for each of the persona groups. These designs were inclsive of clickable buttons, design systems, and placeholder text/metrics. These prototypes were deliverables for the development team and project manager to implement into the dashboarding platform.

The workshop included "radar" mapping, which allowed user to add their requirements into a bulleye-shaped map. The closer to the center of the bulleye demonstrated that the requirement was of higher importance.
